To get started all you need are the following materials:
  • White Clay for the face and ears
  • Pastel pink for the ears
  • Gold or Yellow clay for the horn
  • Various colours for your flowers and embellishments
  • A toothpick
  • Metal Hook or Eye Pin
  • Fine black Sharpie Marker
  • Jump Ring
  • Necklace or Key Ring
  • Baking Paper
  • Oven

Steps:
1.  Clean your workspace and spread out a A3 piece of baking paper.
Prepare all your clay and tools ready to get started.

2.  Condition and roll your clay in your hand so that its nice and soft.  This prevents any cracking when it's baked.  Do this with all the clay you use before you place the pieces together.

3.  To make the head, shape the clay into an oval.  Insert your hook or pin into the head of the unicorn

4.  To make the ears, roll the piece into an oval and then pinch the ends so that they resemble ears.  Do the same with the pastel pink clay however a smaller amount.  Place ears onto the unicorn head.

5.  To make the horn roll a small piece of clay into a snake.  Pinch the ends.  Then fold in half and twist together.  Place in between the unicorn ears.

6.  Choose your flower and leaf colours.  You will only require a small amount.  I like to use pastels for my unicorn flowers and leaves, and a bright colour for the main flower.  Place main flower under the unicorn horn and the other embellishments around the flower and along the right hand side of the unicorn head.  See main image for inspiration.

7.  To make the flowers, roll out very thin snakes of coloured clay.  Cut into pieces, roll each piece into an oval and use a toothpick it pat it down so that it resembles a flower with multiple petals.

8.  To make the leaves roll out very thin snakes of coloured clay.  Cut into pieces, roll each piece into an oval and pinch the end so that it resembles a leaf.  Use a toothpick it pat it down so that it resembles a leaf with multiple pieces.

9.  Preheat your oven to 130 degrees celsius.   For best results, please check the instructions on the brand of clay you are using.
For my miniatures I always bake my Premo clay on 130 degrees celsius for 30 minutes.

10.  Once baked allow your creation to completely cool.  Draw on your unicorn eyes with a fine black Sharpie marker.

11. Add a jumpring to the hook and and then to a necklace or keyring.  Hooray!
